S.Sandhya has an M.Phil (1980) and Ph.D (1986) from Centre for the Study of Regional Development,   Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in Population Stream. I did M.A.(1978)  in Population Studies, besides a P.G.  Diploma in Statistics (1977) (both from Sri Venkateswara University), Thirupati.

I have joined in the Department as UGC Research Scientist A (Lecturer grade) in January 1989. I teach Statistical Methods for Economics, Population and Development, Health Economics, and Research Methodology in the School. I had an opportunity to teach Health Economics on few occasions as Visiting Faculty to Master’s Programme in Hospital Management at the Institute of Hospital Administration, Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad, at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad and at Jimma University, Ethiopia.

Earlier to joining the University, I was a Consultant (equivalent to Associate Fellow) from 1986 to 1989 at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad and completed two projects. From 1983 to 1986, I was a Project Associate at the Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad and participated in two major studies.

I had visited abroad on the following occasions for academic purpose.

  1. Presented a Paper on “How far are we in achieving Universal Public Health in India? Evidence from NHA and other data”, Eighth International Health Economics Association Conference, 7-13, July 2011, Toronto, Canada.
  2. Presented a Paper on “Quality issues in Private Health Care”, Seventh International Health Economics Association Conference, 12-15, July 2009, Beijing, China.
  3. Visiting Associate Professor -- Jimma University (29th February 2005 to 30th December 2005), Jimma, Ethiopia.
  4. Visiting Fellow -- Department of Demography, Australian National University, Canberra from (March to May 1987)
